One of the most important outcomes of this project is the future of Carolina Creative Campus beyond the grant. The impact of Criminal/Justice: The Death Penalty Examined became clear to Carolina Performing Arts when other campus constituents began asking what the next Carolina Creative Campus theme would be. At that point, CPA explored the options for continuing Carolina Creative Campus beyond the scope of the Creative Campus Innovation Grant, and noted two important facts:

  1. The grant funds primarily supported project management, programming and program-related activities; and
  2. A significant number of ‘partner’ projects participated, but with limited or no direct funding from Carolina Performing Arts.

The significance of these observations is the realization of a sustainable model for Carolina Creative Campus. Carolina Creative Campus is now a program facilitated by the Office of the Executive Director for the Arts, as opposed to within CPA due to the expanded portfolio of opportunities afforded within the this framework, and a full-time position, Director of Campus and Community Engagement, oversees the CCC program. Carolina Creative Campus is now in it’s third year.
